These constantly crop up, especially near known Civil War sites. Sometimes 'reject' balls are found, where the two halves of the mould didn't quite match up. These were sometimes discarded without further trimming, or melted down and re-made. Particularly spooky is to find a musket ball which has obviously hit something... They range in size from 7mm (1/4") to 17mm (11/16")
